| Unit Name | Abbreviation | Conversion Relationship | Equivalent m³/s |

US Gallon per Minute (GPM) is the most common liquid flow rate unit in the United States. 1 GPM = 3.785411784 L/min ≈ 0.06309 L/s. In the US, pump performance curves, irrigation systems, and fire protection systems all use GPM for flow rate specification.
UK Gallon per Minute (UK GPM) is the common flow rate unit in the UK and Commonwealth countries. 1 UK GPM = 4.54609 L/min ≈ 0.07577 L/s. The UK gallon is approximately 20% larger than the US gallon, so the same GPM numerical value represents a larger actual flow rate in Imperial units. When procuring international equipment or working on multinational engineering projects, it is essential to distinguish between US GPM and UK GPM.
Therefore, when reviewing datasheets for imported pumps, valves, or flow meters, always confirm whether the rating is in US GPM or UK GPM. Otherwise the selected flow rate can be off by around 20%, which in turn affects pipeline pressure loss and energy consumption estimates.
1 m³/s = 3,600 m³/h, 1 m³/h = 1/3,600 m³/s ≈ 0.000278 m³/s. Conversion formula: m³/s × 3,600 = m³/h, m³/h ÷ 3,600 = m³/s. For example, a pump with a flow rate of 2 m³/s is equivalent to a processing capacity of 7,200 m³/h. In practice, large hydraulic engineering projects typically use m³/s, while building water supply/drainage and HVAC use m³/h.
1 L/s = 3.6 m³/h, 1 m³/h = 1/3.6 L/s ≈ 0.2778 L/s. Conversion formula: L/s × 3.6 = m³/h, m³/h ÷ 3.6 = L/s. For example, household tap water flow is about 0.2-0.5 L/s, equivalent to 0.72-1.8 m³/h. L/s is commonly used in pipe hydraulic calculations, while m³/h is commonly used for pump and equipment flow rate specifications.
CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute) is a gas flow rate unit commonly used in the UK and US, widely applied in ventilation, air conditioning, and air compressor systems. 1 CFM = 1.699 m³/h, 1 m³/h ≈ 0.5886 CFM. Conversion formula: CFM × 1.699 = m³/h, m³/h × 0.5886 = CFM. For example, a 500 CFM exhaust fan has an airflow of approximately 849.5 m³/h. When reading foreign HVAC equipment specifications, you often need to switch between CFM and m³/h.
1 bbl/day ≈ 0.006624 m³/h ≈ 6.624 L/h. 1 standard oil barrel = 42 US gallons ≈ 158.987 L. Conversion formula: bbl/day × 0.158987 ÷ 24 = m³/h, m³/h × 24 ÷ 0.158987 = bbl/day. For example, an oil well producing 10,000 barrels per day has a flow rate of approximately 66.24 m³/h. Global crude oil production and trading are typically measured in bbl/day, while refinery processing capacity is commonly expressed in m³/h or tonnes/year.
No. All conversion calculations are performed entirely in your browser locally using pure JavaScript math. Your input data never leaves your device, so please feel free to use it.
This tool uses JavaScript double-precision floating-point numbers (64-bit IEEE 754) for calculations, which is sufficiently accurate for most everyday scenarios. Imperial/US units use internationally standardized conversion ratios (e.g., 1 US gal = 3.785411784 L exact value, 1 ft = 0.3048 m exact value). Up to 6 significant decimal places are retained, with excess digits automatically truncated. For extremely large or small values, minor errors may occur due to floating-point precision limits, but this has virtually no impact in practical applications.
14 units in total. Metric: m³/s, m³/h, m³/min, L/s, L/h, L/min, mL/s, mL/min; US customary: GPM, GPH; Imperial: UK GPM, ft³/s, CFM; petroleum industry: bbl/day. Enter a value in any unit to convert it to all the others at once.
Only the time base differs. GPM is gallons per minute and GPH is gallons per hour, so 1 GPM = 60 GPH. Pumps and sprinkler systems usually state instantaneous flow in GPM, while water purifier cartridge life and drinking water equipment output are often rated in GPH or gallons per day.
Instant. All calculations run locally in your browser in real time, so results for every unit appear with virtually zero delay and no network request is needed — it stays smooth on mobile devices too.
Click the copy button next to the result. Every unit result has a one-click copy button; the value is placed on your clipboard so you can paste it into design notes, equipment selection sheets, or chat windows.
Yes. The page uses a responsive design and works normally in mobile, tablet, and desktop browsers, so you can look up flow rate conversions on site or while travelling.
Safer local calculation and broader unit coverage. Compared with desktop software that must be downloaded and installed, this tool needs no installation and works instantly. Compared with simple tools that only handle metric units, it covers metric, US customary, Imperial, and petroleum units, and all calculations stay on your device — combining speed with privacy.
