PDF to TXT

Currently we mainly support conversion of text-based PDFs (text that can be selected and copied). For scanned PDFs (text in images), since text cannot be extracted directly, it is recommended to recognize the text with an OCR tool first and then convert.

Batch upload and conversion is supported with no quantity limit. A single file is capped at 50MB. Since conversion happens locally in your browser, processing speed depends on your device — consider splitting very large files into batches.

Files are processed entirely in your browser using the PDF.js engine. All computation happens on your device — nothing is ever uploaded to any server. Your files never leave your device, and your privacy is fully protected.

The converted txt file uses UTF-8 with BOM encoding by default, which is compatible with Chinese, English, and many other languages. It can be opened normally in Windows Notepad, VS Code, and other text editors without garbled characters.

The tool tries to extract text in the PDF's reading order using an intelligent line-sorting algorithm — first arranging text lines top-to-bottom, then merging same-line text left-to-right. However, for complex multi-column layouts, the order of individual paragraphs may deviate. For PDFs with complex layouts, we recommend a quick check of the text order after conversion.

Multi-page PDFs include page markers (--- Page N ---) between pages, making it easy to distinguish content from different pages for later reference and citation.

Text-based PDFs usually preserve all text and paragraph order. A few special fonts or encrypted documents may extract abnormally; try removing encryption and retrying.
