Supports 9 units spanning SI frequency, rotational speed, and angular frequency, covering electronics, mechanical engineering, physics teaching, and more
Frequency units use exact powers of ten, while angular frequency uses the standard relation ω = 2πf, supporting decimals as well as very large and very small values
Works smoothly on desktop, tablet, and mobile with a responsive layout, so you can convert frequency units anytime, anywhere
The following table shows the conversion relationships between SI frequency units, using Hertz (Hz) as the base unit:
| Unit Name | Abbr. | Conversion Relationship | Equivalent Hz |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hertz | Hz | 1 Hz = 1 s⁻¹ | 1 |
| Kilohertz | kHz | 1 kHz = 1,000 Hz | 1,000 |
| Megahertz | MHz | 1 MHz = 1,000 kHz | 1,000,000 |
| Gigahertz | GHz | 1 GHz = 1,000 MHz | 10⁹ |
| Terahertz | THz | 1 THz = 1,000 GHz | 10¹² |
The following table shows the conversion relationships for rotational speed and angular frequency units, using Hertz (Hz) as the base unit:
| Unit Name | Abbr. | Conversion Relationship | Equivalent Hz |
|---|---|---|---|
| Revolutions per Minute | RPM | 1 RPM = 1/60 rps | 1/60 ≈ 0.016667 |
| Revolutions per Second | rps | 1 rps = 60 RPM | 1 |
| Radian per Second | rad/s | 1 rad/s = 1/(2π) rps | 1/(2π) ≈ 0.159155 |
| Degree per Second | °/s | 1 °/s = 1/360 rps | 1/360 ≈ 0.002778 |
Frequency (f) and period (T) are reciprocals: f = 1/T, T = 1/f. Frequency represents the number of times a periodic event occurs per unit time, measured in Hertz (Hz), i.e., "cycles per second". Period represents the time required to complete one full oscillation, measured in seconds (s).
For example, the period of 50 Hz AC mains electricity is T = 1/50 = 0.02 seconds (20 milliseconds), meaning the current direction completes one full cycle every 0.02 seconds. Conversely, if a periodic event occurs every 0.1 seconds, the frequency f = 1/0.1 = 10 Hz.
Mastering this reciprocal relationship lets you move freely between frequency and timing parameters: a 20 ms period read on an oscilloscope corresponds to 50 Hz; a 1 ms timer interrupt on a microcontroller corresponds to 1,000 Hz; and a 44.1 kHz audio sampling rate corresponds to a sampling interval of about 22.7 μs. Convert the frequency first, then take the reciprocal to obtain the timing value you need.
Frequency units use powers of 1,000: 1 kHz = 1,000 Hz, 1 MHz = 1,000 kHz = 1,000,000 Hz, 1 GHz = 1,000 MHz = 109 Hz, 1 THz = 1,000 GHz = 1012 Hz. Common radio frequencies include FM broadcast 88-108 MHz, Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, and visible light at approximately 400-790 THz.
1 Hz = 60 RPM, 1 RPM = 1/60 Hz ≈ 0.01667 Hz. Hz represents revolutions per second, while RPM represents revolutions per minute. For example, an engine at 3,000 RPM = 50 Hz, meaning the crankshaft rotates 50 times per second. The synchronous speed of AC motors is directly related to the power supply frequency: for a 2-pole motor, 50 Hz supply → 3,000 RPM.
The relationship between angular frequency ω (rad/s) and frequency f (Hz) is: ω = 2πf, i.e., f = ω/(2π). 1 Hz = 2π rad/s ≈ 6.283 rad/s, 1 rad/s = 1/(2π) Hz ≈ 0.159 Hz. Angular frequency is widely used in simple harmonic motion, wave analysis, and circuit analysis. For example, the angular frequency of 50 Hz AC is ω = 100π ≈ 314.16 rad/s.
1 °/s = π/180 rad/s ≈ 0.01745 rad/s, 1 rad/s = 180/π °/s ≈ 57.296 °/s. °/s is a unit of angular velocity, expressing the angle rotated per second in degrees. For example, the Earth's rotational angular velocity is about 15 °/h = 0.00417 °/s, which converts to approximately 7.27 × 10-5 rad/s.
No. All conversion calculations run entirely in your browser using pure JavaScript math. Your input data never leaves your device.
This tool uses JavaScript double-precision floating-point numbers (64-bit IEEE 754) for calculations, which is sufficiently accurate for the vast majority of everyday scenarios. Frequency unit conversions use exact powers-of-10 factors (e.g., 1 kHz = 1,000 Hz exact), while rotational speed and angular frequency use standard mathematical relationships. Decimal portions are capped at 6 significant decimal places, and excessively long decimals are automatically truncated. For extremely large or small values, there may be minor errors due to floating-point precision limitations, but this has virtually no practical impact.
9 units in total. SI frequency units include hertz (Hz), kilohertz (kHz), megahertz (MHz), gigahertz (GHz), and terahertz (THz); rotational speed units include revolutions per minute (RPM) and revolutions per second (rps); angular frequency units include radians per second (rad/s) and degrees per second (°/s). Enter a value in any unit to convert it to all the others at once.
Three steps. Enter the frequency value in the input box, select the source unit for that value, then click "Convert" or press Enter. The results area lists the equivalent value in all 9 units, and the copy button beside each result puts it on your clipboard.
Instant. All calculations run locally in your browser in real time, so results for every unit appear with virtually zero delay and no network request is needed — it stays smooth on mobile devices too.
It is usually an input formatting issue. Make sure you entered a valid number without unit symbols, thousands separators, or spaces. When converting large magnitudes such as GHz or THz down to Hz, the result may be displayed in scientific notation, which is normal. Refreshing the page and re-entering the value restores normal behaviour.
Yes. The page uses a responsive design and works normally in mobile, tablet, and desktop browsers, so you can look up frequency conversions in the lab, on the shop floor, or in the classroom.
Safer local calculation and broader unit coverage. Compared with desktop software that must be downloaded and installed, this tool needs no installation and works instantly. Compared with simple tools that only handle Hz and kHz, it also covers rotational speed and angular frequency, so you can convert RPM to Hz or rad/s to Hz directly, and all calculations stay on your device — combining speed with privacy.
